    National conference for media development held in Mogadishu.

    National Conference on Cooperation between Federal, Regional Ministers of Information, Private media and International Partners held in the Somali Capital Mogadishu today on Tuesday.

National Conference on Cooperation between Federal, Regional Ministers of Information, Private media and International Partners held in the Somali Capital Mogadishu today on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Information of the Federal Republic of Somalia and United Nations assistance mission in Somalia organized the forum which will go ahead in two days time.

 

Minister of Information, H.E. Mohamed Abdi Hayer opened the conference, saying it is to have national media agenda in terms of collaboration, security and exercising freedom of speech for both the state and independent media sectors.

 

UN Envoy to Somalia, Ambassador Nicklos Kay called for the semi-autonomous regions of Puntland autonaorities to release Jama’ Deperan, a TV journalisted arrested in Garowe town.

 

Such conference is the first ever held for media and International partners and comes before National Media law is to passed by the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
