Security forces operation against 'al-Shabaab' near Boni Forest
The KWS has said it fired terror suspect Mohammed
Hussein in 2009 but that he did not return for clearance.
Hussein, Roble Kassim and Aden Abdullah were
arrested in Bondeni, Mombasa on Wednesday and 54 AK 47 rifle bullets recovered.
An officer described them as "dangerous"
saying they were "possibly working closely with al Shabaab's key leaders
in Somalia".
They were found with six IDs including one for the
Kenya Wildlife Service.
KWS said in a statement on Thursday: "The suspect
was dismissed for deserting duty. He did not turn up for clearance; that is why
he still holds an employment card."
The organisation said Hussein was later arrested and
arraigned at a Nanyuki court over poaching. A case in which he is accused of
killing a rhino after he was fired is pending, the statement said.
The KWS said the court issued a warrant for
Hussein's arrest for absconding and that he was on the run when he was arrested
in Mombasa.
"KWS security personnel have been working closely
with other security agents in bringing the suspect to book with a view to
having him face the full force of law," read the statement.
