The State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Balal Mohamed Cusman, headed the Somali delegation participating in the 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was launched on Friday in Niamey, Niger.

The session, which will continue on November 27-28, will focus on the title (United Against Terrorism for Peace and Development) to affirm the commitment of member states to combat terrorism and violent extremism to achieve development goals.

In a speech at the conference, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated Somalia's support for the goals and principles of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to maintain international peace and security, as well as its efforts to achieve development in its member states, briefing the participants on the latest developments in Somalia and the efforts of the Federal Government of Somalia to restore security and stability, revealing tremendous government achievements in reviving the country's economy as well as reforms in the field of human rights.

On the other hand, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation held marginal meetings that focused on bilateral relations and joint cooperation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Republic of Turkey, H.E. Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, in charge of Moroccan expatriates, H.E. Ms. Nezha El Ouafi, the Secretary-General of the OIC, Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen , and heads of delegations of other brotherly and friendly countries, including Qatar.
