Somali Police forces and AMISOM Police have launched on Balad Hawa in Gedo region a joint security sweep at area and Balad town in Gedo region, Vice Police Commander said.

The security forces began their operation at Sunday dawn targeting suspected Al Shabab hideouts, with reports said scores of youths has been detained during the house-to-house search.

The suspects arrested in the operation were taken into the Police Station custody for investigations before trying them for unspecified charges, reports said.

The security officers led the operation were available for comments on arrests. Al shabaab has been carrying out deadly attacks in the villages located on Mogadishu suburbs.
