Security forces of the Somali National Intelligence Agency has on Sunday conducted an operation in Jowhar town, the capital of middle Shabelle province, officials said.

Security force commander in Jowhar, Abdiweli Ibrahim said they carried out the operation at some neighborhoods in suspicion of hiding out suspects and areas close to where the conference for establishing Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan regions is to be held next week.

"We conducted operation to ensure the security at the main hotels, villages and areas close to the place where forum will be held, we had some suspects of hiding out terrorists, military forces were with us in the operation”, Mr. Ibrahim said.

Jowhar is 90 kilometers of Mogadishu and it is to host a big conference in which the last regional state in Somalia is to be built.

Security is the main concern by members of the Federal government, candidates, guests and officials of the regions at moment.

Minister of Interior of Somalia, Abdirahman Odowa has already demanded more security forces presence in the road between Mogadishu and Jowhar town after his visit there two weeks earlier.
