At least ten Al shabaab were killed and over 20 others injured after heavy fighting between Somali government forces occurred and Al-Shabab on Friday at Gof-gudud neighborhood, 30 Kilometers to Baidoa town in Bay region southern Somalia, officials said.

An officials in Baidoa town confirmed that Al-Shabab fighters took an organized and an ambush attack at government base, Gof-gudud and the two sides exchanged heavy gunfire more than 12 hours and finally Sna and Amisom captured the area and it is under government control.

 

Acting president of southwest state in Somalia, Mohamed Hassan Fiqi said that Somali National Army at Gof-gudud base was attacked by Al-Shabab attempting to capture, but they were defeated.

 

"Our forces are fully control of the area, we pushed the terrorist group of Al-Shabab, it was an ambush, we killed 10 of them as said by”, Mr, Hassan Fiqi said.
