The State Minister of the Ministry of Defence, Hon. Cumar Cali Cabdi, today attended a scholarship award ceremony where 31 officers from the Somali National Army received education scholarships from the People's Republic of China.

The event was also attended by the Deputy Chief of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Maadeey Sheekh Nuur Ufuroow, and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Somalia, H.E. Wang Yu.

In his remarks, the State Minister urged the officers to make full use of this valuable opportunity and to return to the country equipped with modern knowledge, advanced skills, and experience that responds to the nation’s security needs.

Minister Cumar also expressed his gratitude to the Government of China for its continued support and solidarity with the Federal Government of Somalia.
