
Somalia and UN have signed the Implementation Guide of the 2025 Roadmap to strengthen the protection of children affected by armed conflict.
The Federal Government of Somalia and the United Nations today signed the Implementation Guide of the 2025 Roadmap to strengthen the protection of children affected by armed conflict. The Guide was signed by H.E. Amb. Ahmed Moallin Fiqi, Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Somalia; Mr James Swan, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia; and Ms Sandra Latouff, UNICEF Representative in Somalia. The signing reflects sustained national reforms and reinforces institutional accountability across the security sector.
This commitment builds on progress achieved in recent years and underscores Somalia’s determination to uphold its obligations, prevent grave violations against children, and work closely with international partners to ensure durable protection and long-term stability.
The signing ceremony was attended by members of the Inter-ministerial Committee on Children and Armed Conflict (CAAC), from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Internal Security, Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development.
