Mogadishu, Somalia — The State Minister of Defence, Hon. Omar Ali Abdi, accompanied by the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Odowaa Yusuf Rage, conducted an official visit to Awdheegle in the Lower Shabelle region today to assess the security and humanitarian situation in the area recently liberated from Al-Shabaab.

During the visit, the officials inspected several areas destroyed by the terrorist Khawarij, including residential homes, schools, health facilities, and solar power infrastructure critical to the local community.

Minister Omar noted that residents of Awdheegle are enduring difficult humanitarian conditions that require urgent support. He emphasized that the visit demonstrates the Federal Government’s ongoing commitment to standing with communities newly freed from Al-Shabaab control.

The State Minister further commended the courage and sacrifice of the Somali National Armed Forces and praised the support of international partners, particularly the AUSSOM forces, for their vital contribution to peace and stability efforts across Somalia.
