    Somali Defence Minister Holds Bilateral Talks with Italian Counterpart in Rome

    The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, is on an official visit to Italy, where he met with his Italian counterpart, H.E. Guido Crosetto, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Italy, in Rome.

The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, is on an official visit to Italy, where he met with his Italian counterpart, H.E. Guido Crosetto, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Italy, in Rome.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas including defence, maritime security, counter-terrorism, and the development and professionalisation of the Somali National Armed Forces. They also addressed continued support and funding for the AUSSOM Mission.

Both sides expressed a shared commitment to advancing joint initiatives under Italy’s Mattei Plan, which aims to foster sustainable partnerships with African nations.

Minister Fiqi and Minister Crosetto reaffirmed the historic friendship and enduring partnership between Somalia and Italy, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration in promoting peace, stability, and security in Somalia and the broader Horn of Africa region.
