The brave Somali National Army (SNA), supported by the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), specifically the Ugandan People's Defence Forces (UPDF) contingent, have liberated two key villages in Lower Shabelle region from the Khawarij.
The villages of Shamgare and Raqayle, located northeast of Awdheegle district, were brought under full control of the forces after a brief battle that broke the Khawarij ’ resistance. The operation, launched at dawn, was executed with precision as the troops cleared areas where the Khawarij had attempted to hide.

During the offensive, the Khawarij were clear out from underground hideouts and inflicted with heavy casualties, while others fled. The joint forces also dismantled Khawarij bases that had been used to terrorize local communities.

This mission forms part of the third phase of "Silent Storm” operations, aimed at eliminating Khawarij strongholds and restoring security in Somalia.
