The Ground Forces Commander of Somali National Armed Forces General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, accompanied by the Commander of Sector One of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) and other senior officers, conducted an inspection tour in parts of Lower Shabelle region

The officials visited several areas near Awdheegle district, where Somali National Army forces are actively engaged in operations against al-Shabaab.

General Sahal met with troops on the frontlines, commending their achievements and the heavy blows they have inflicted on the enemy. He urged the joint forces to intensify efforts to eliminate militant hideouts in the region.

Currently, the third phase of Operation "Silent Storm” is underway in Lower Shabelle, inflicting significant losses on al-Shabaab.
