The Minister of Defence, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, accompanied by the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Odowaa Yusuf Rageh, today attended a ceremony where the Government of the United Kingdom handed over modern vehicles and equipment designed to counter improvised explosive devices (C-IED). The assets were officially handed over to the Engineering Unit of the Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF).

The vehicles and equipment were presented by the UK Ambassador to Somalia, HMA Charles King.

Minister Fiqi underlined that this new equipment reflects the United Kingdom’s consistent support in strengthening the capabilities and skills of the Somali National Army, noting that it will significantly enhance the safety and effectiveness of operations against terrorism.

The Minister expressed his deep gratitude to the Government of the United Kingdom for its strategic support to Somalia, stressing that this partnership remains a cornerstone in the collective efforts to achieve peace, stability, and a secure future for the Somali people.
