Commander of the Somali National Army's Infantry Forces, Major General Sahal Abdullahi Omar "General Khalid," has officially inaugurated the new headquarters of the 19th Commando Battalion (Gorgor).

The facility will serve as a strategic center for organizing, training, and conducting operations for the nation’s elite forces.

General Khalid said the move reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of the Somali National Army and develop modern infrastructure to meet the country’s defense needs. 

The 19th Gorgor Battalion is considered a backbone of national defense, and the new base is expected to enhance its operational performance, cohesion, and efficiency.

He also thanked the Government of Türkiye for constructing the new headquarters for the battalion.

The Somali National Army continues its extensive campaign to secure the country and eliminate the enemies of the Somali people.
