The Danab Special Forces of Somali National Army (SNA) have conducted a special operation in the Durduro area of the Bay region, where they successfully eliminated a senior Al-Shabaab commander identified as Ahmed Mohamed (Mascuud). The commander was responsible for planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) targeting Somali civilians. His bodyguards were also killed during the operation.
In a separate security operation, Danab forces carried out a mission in the Leego area of the Lower Shabelle region, where they destroyed Al-Shabaab hideouts. Ongoing security sweeps are being conducted in the area to ensure the safety and stability of surrounding villages.
Meanwhile, early this morning, Al-Shabaab militants launched a coordinated explosive attack on national and local forces in Mahas district, located in the Hiiraan region.
Somali National Army troops, National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) personnel, and community defense forces known as Macawiisley engaged the attackers in intense fighting that lasted several hours. The joint forces inflicted heavy losses on the Khawarij, causing significant casualties, both dead and wounded.
The Somali National Army and community forces have reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the fight against the terrorist group Al-Shabaab, vowing to sacrifice for the defense of religion, people, and nation.
