Somali National Army (SNA) alongside local forces in Hiiraan region launched a major multi-front offensive against the extremist Al-Shabaab Khawarij.

The fight has taking place on the outskirts of Ceel-Hareeri and Garas-Magan, two strategic areas located along the border between the Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions.Recent clashes in Ceel-Hareeri and Garas-Magan, which fall under the Moqokori district of Hiiraan, have resulted in heavy losses for the Al-Shabaab. 

The SNA and local defense forces have conducted coordinated operations targeting key locations where the Khawarij had gathered to plan attacks against civilians.

A reporter from the Somali National Army Radio Forces Media, currently stationed near Garas-Magan and Ceel-Hareeri, confirmed that the operation inflicted significant damage on the militants, successfully dislodging them from their hideouts.

Commanders leading the operations told military media that they dealt a severe blow to the enemy, destroying their bunkers and assembly points. They added that Al-Shabaab had already suffered major defeats in earlier clashes in the same areas.

The joint operations are part of ongoing efforts to eliminate the extremist khawaarij presence and protect the local population from further harm.
