    Somali Deputy Prime Minister Closes National Conference on Arms, Ammunition, and IED Management

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia and Acting Prime Minister, Mr. Salah Ahmed Jama, officially closed the National Conference on the Management of Weapons, Ammunition, and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), held in Mogadishu. The event was organized by the Office of National Security.
In a keynote address at the conference, National Security Advisor to the President of Somalia, Mr. Hussein Sheikh Ali, highlighted the approval of the 2025–2030 Strategy. This strategy is focused on establishing a unified and sustainable approach to the management of weapons, ammunition, and IEDs. He noted that the Office of National Security holds this conference twice a year.

H.E. Hussein Sheikh Ali emphasized that the Office of National Security has made significant progress in prioritizing capacity-building efforts to enhance the country’s ability to manage arms and explosives. He also underscored the strong cooperation between regional administrations and federal institutions responsible for arms and ammunition.


In his closing remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama reiterated the Somali government’s unwavering commitment to finding sustainable solutions for the effective management of weapons, ammunition, and IEDs.

H.E Jama stated that the "Dan-Qaran" Government has placed special emphasis on developing policies and technical mechanisms to combat the proliferation of illegal arms and to counter the use of explosives that threaten national security.
